Signs of Dementia

Our Board of Trustees

We have a dedicated Board of Trustees who kindly volunteer their time to support and manage our charity.

Ian Dickson
Chair of Board

Professionally, I am a senior leader in health & social care and have a strong background in finance, commerce and customer service. I have worked in both private and third sector environments and collaborative closely with statutory sector colleagues in my current role. I am very passionate about people in our community having access to a range of services that enable them to live as fulfilling and enjoyable a life as possible and am hugely proud of the fantastic services that Braid H&W staff and volunteers offer to older adults. As a West Lothian resident, it is a privilege to be able to contribute something to my
community by offering my services as a Trustee.

Clare Gard
Vice Chair

The pandemic was a very unsettling period of time for everyone and I decided that I wanted to give something back to the community and share some of my skills and knowledge. I was delighted when an opportunity to join the Board at Braid Health and Wellbeing became available. I have worked in the field of HR for almost 15 years and enjoy supporting and developing people to see them reach their full potential. I have a very strong process background and I ask lots of questions to ensure that everyone understands the bigger picture.

Michael McCusker
Treasurer

I am an enthusiastic, genuine and influential individual with over 25 years of experience in IT industry. I have excellent interpersonal skills which, have been obtained from having to liaise and co-ordinate with all levels including senior leadership teams, internal/external stakeholders and also direct line reports. I am passionate about development and growing relationships whilst driving inclusion and diversity. I believe everyone should have the same access to support regardless of background and love the work that Braid Health and Wellbeing promotes in supporting elderly, vulnerable and sometimes isolated individuals.

Review

“My son Paul attended the dark room today and we were met with friendly faces. We were taken round to the room by Tasha and my first impressions of the centre was that it had a lovely welcoming feel”. Paul was really looking forward to using the sensory room and indeed it didnt disappoint. Paul and his PA really enjoyed the experience and Paul is really looking forward to coming back. He couldnt wait to tell his dad all about it and became very animated when chatting about it. As a parent I was pleasantly surprised at the atmosphere and standards in the centre. I will be recommending the room to our friends whos sons/daughters may benefit from the rooms. Could I also add the rooms are ideally situated away from the hustle and bustle of the centre. The staff I met today were lovely”
